Doordeals wins prestigious business award

Doordeals were happy to celebrate recently, after being crowned SME of the Year at the Sheffield Business Awards 2017.

The business triumphed at the ceremony, organised by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, after judges recognised the firm for ‘achieving consistent growth backed by a strong financial performance, while demonstrating a clear understanding of the markets that it operates in’.

Set up by managing director Steve Naylor in 2007 Doordeals is considered one of the UK’s leading independent online timber door retailers.

Steve branched out to set up his own business after working for his dad John, who launched one of Sheffield’s first hardware and door shops, Abbeydale DIY Centre, in 1971.

Today Doordeals operates from offices, showroom and distribution centre on Saxon Road, supplying the retail and trade market from its large stock of popular sizes and styles of quality internal and external doors, as well as related accessories and ironmongery. The firm has seen steady growth in turnover and profit and this year - the firm’s 10th anniversary in business - reported a turnover in excess of £4m for the last financial year.

The Sheffield Business Awards recognise and reward success in all sizes of business across a variety of sectors and the Sheffield Business School SME the Year award was one of the top honours presented at the event.

Doordeals fought off tough competition from shortlisted companies Hive IT Ltd, BetterYou Ltd, Sheffield Credit Union, and The SEO Works Limited to win the award at the glittering event which was held at Ponds Forge.

Managing director Stephen Naylor who collected the award said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this award which recognises the growth and success of Doordeals. “It is a fantastic accolade and one that is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the entire team.

“Our growth has been driven by a commitment to constantly strive to stay at the forefront of our market, with developments like our bespoke sizing service. “Meanwhile our logistics provision and investment in a fleet of specially adapted vehicles has given us the ability to organise our own deliveries to anywhere in the UK and that flexibility to meet customer demand really sets us apart from our competitors.

“While we continue to expand and grow our business nationally, we are proud to be a local business – hence our sponsorship links with partners like Sheffield United – so we are incredibly proud to recognised by the Sheffield city business region with this award.”
