How long will my door take to be delivered?

Here at www.doordeals.co.uk we try to deliver your doors as quickly as possible. We do not have an “exact” delivery lead time due to different doors taking different length of time to arrive. Below we have written a few different scenarios’s to give you an idea as to how long delivery would take. If you have any time constraints at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch

How long to deliver solid doors or doors without glass?

For these kinds of doors we can usually turn round within 10 working days no problem. As we are growing as a company we are holding more and more doors in stock, so if it’s a stock item you choose, we can arrange delivery within the week or even offer a next working day service…

I want some glass with my door, how long does delivery take?

If the door you choose has only the ONE glazing option it probably means that we buy it in pre glazed. This keeps the delivery time’s down to within 10 working days. Again if they are stock items this timescale can be reduced to a week. Unfortunately due to insurance requirements we are unable to send glazed doors next day, unless there is a larger quantity (over 7 doors) we would then be able to palletise and send next day.

I require double glazed units…

For external doors (or indeed external French doors) where double glazed units are required, this can add extra time to the delivery process. We first have to get the doors. Once the doors are here only then can we order the Double glazed Units. These can take up to a week to arrive. We then have to package and send the doors onto our courier. We usually estimate that for doors with double glazing requirements we aim to deliver within three weeks of your order.

I need my door for a certain date…..

If you are working to a deadline we will bust a gut to get the goods there for you. Give us a ring or send an email with what you want, where to and when you want it for, and we are honest enough to let you know if we can get it there for you. All the above timeframes are approximate. You may get the doors a little before. One thing is for sure we ALWAYS aim to work around the customer, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have….

Can I Submit an Enquiry?

If you would like to submit an enquiry for further information and a custom quote, please place an order as normal and select 'Enquiry only' on the payment type. Otherwise you can contact us at any time.

Will the Glass be fitted into the Door?

On all our Doors where their is a choice of what glass you require,we do not always fit the glass into the door. The glazing may be sent separately from the door or temporarily glazed. Should you require the doors to be properly glazed please mention this at the time of order or contact us prior to placing the order. There may be a charge for this service depending on the amount of glazing required.

What is doweled construction?

Dowel construction doors are made from individual components (top, middle & bottom rails, stiles and panels) which are then jointed together by way of using large fluted dowels, which are then glued and inserted into dowel holes. The whole door is then clamped together using a hydraulic press until dry. This process is used to assemble some external and nearly all internal doors:

Dowel Construction Doors

What is Mortice and Tennon (M&T) construction?

Mortice and Tennon DoorsM&T construction means the way in which the door is jointed together. A “Tennon” peg from one section of timber is let into a “mortised” hole in another section. The Tennon is then glued and wedged into place to secure a solid joint. The door panels are then set in waterproof mastic ensuring that the highest level of weatherproofing is achieved. Doors made from an M&T construction are traditionally better equipped to withstand the rigors of severe weather than a dowel construction door.

What is the difference between a door with Dowelled construction to that of a door with M&T construction?

Our Dowelled Hardwood doors are manufactured from kiln dried timber and are jointed using fluted dowels and modern adhesives.

Our Mortice & Tenon doors are manufactured from select kiln dried hardwoods, and are constructed using traditional Mortice & Tenon joints and modern adhesives. This ensures that the doors are constructed to the very highest standard. The panels are set in a waterproof mastic ensuring that the highest level of weatherproofing is achieved.

Are my doors solid? What is an engineered construction door?

Section of a DoorThe majority of our doors are engineered. It is quite regular practice for doors to be made from engineered components. This means that doors with a face of pine, ash, oak or walnut often use a veneer over a composite solid core. Applying doors with a real wood veneer provides greater uniformity in colour and enhances the appearance of the door. It also gives the door greater stability and less chance of twisting or splitting. One other benifit is that it is much better for the enviroment. If you are unsure as to the construction of your door, or you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us. We are here to help!"

Is the glass in the glazed doors, toughened safety glass?

Yes all glass in our glazed doors is toughened to BS6206(A) safety standards.

Glazing including double glazed Units.

All our external doors which are above 44mm thick (dowels and M&T’s) are able to accept a 14mm sealed double glazed unit. Throughout our range, there are a large number of doors with either feature, triple glazed or beveled glass.

Are the glazed Doors Part L Compliant?

A lot of our doors are only able to accept 4mm/6mm/4mm double glazed units. Please check with your local building inspector to see if there are any specific glazing regulations required, especially on french doors or where the glazing is over 50% of the door. Not all of our doors are part "L" compliant. We have added two PDF documents to assist with this. One showing Document "N" which is the Buildings regulations 2000 - Glazing-safety in relation to impact, opening and cleaning. And a document from Pilkington glass giving infomation on part "L" U-Values. If you are at all unsure, please dont hesitate to contact us. We are here to help!

Do you do odd sized doors / arched frames / purpose made items?

We have a joiners shop were purpose made doors, frames, arched frames, gates and windows in both hardwood and softwood can be made to measure as well as being able to reduce the height of certain doors by removing the top or bottom rails and reducing the panels, thus allowing us to supply doors that are for example 170cm tall. We are also able to laminate extra timbers to the door edges to increase the width or height. We would be happy to work you out a quotation for anything which is not a standard product.

I need to reduce my door to suit the opening I have, how much can I take off the door?

On external doors we recommend that no more than 9mm be removed from any given edge. Sometimes door openings are a non standard size e.g. 31 1/2" x 78". We would advise that you purchase an 80” x 32” door and reduce the height rather than the width, as there is more width to the bottom rail than the door stiles.

However removing more than 1” from either the height or width will invalidate the guarantee. On internal doors, we recommend no more than 9mm (3/8 inch) be removed from the sides and top and bottom of the door. As with the external door, if a greater amount requires removal from the height of a door it should be taken from the bottom rail.

Is it possible for me to collect the doors myself?

We are more than happy for you to collect the doors yourself. Our opening times are 8.30 until 6.00 Monday to Friday and 8.30 until 12.30 Saturdays. There is ample free parking outside our unit and our staff are always willing to help load your vehicle. Please see below for details on how to find us or click here.
