About this door

These Oak 1930's 4 Panel Ready to Glaze doors offer a modern twist to a traditional door style. Ideally suited to both traditional and modern dwellings, this door offers an attractive and authentic "period" design at an affordable price.

A style very popular during the 1930s, the door consists of three lower flat panels and one top glazing panel. Often used within townhouses, terraces and cottages, these doors are supplied unfinished to enable you to achieve a style required to suit the property.

With an overtly nostalgic flavour in terms of styling, the lack of fuss and sleek lines of these oak doors will create a traditional and authentic look in a 1930's style home.

Glazing

This door is supplied ready to glaze with various glass options, allowing you to customise the door to your tastes. The glazing panel will allow lots of natural light to brighten up your hallway.

Supplied unfinished, these doors are able to take a stain or paint finish. Our recommendation for a natural, clear finish would be to use a Treatex Hardwax Oil, which is available from the "Stains, Paints and Finishes" section of our website.

On this product, there is also an option for the door to be supplied pre-finished by our french polisher. If you select this option, your door will be supplied pre-finished to a professional standard.

Your door will be pre-sanded with 180 grit sandpaper before being sprayed with a base coat of A/C lacquer. When dry, the door is then "de-nibbed" by hand and sprayed with further top coats of A/C lacquer, specially formulated for doors and internal joinery.

This achieves a great looking semi-matt finish which is resistant to knocks and finger marks and is smooth to the touch.

Selecting this option will add approximately a week to any estimated lead time.

The correct storage, fitting, and finishing of your new doors are very important factors in getting the best out of your purchase.

Please always avoid the use of water-based finishing products as this may cause the door to bow, warp or delaminate. Using these types of products will invalidate your guarantee.

Before finishing your door, we would always recommend reading our Door Care information which can be viewed by clicking here, along with any additional manufacturer's documentation supplied with the door itself.

These doors are manufactured using laminated veneered lumber (LVL). LVL or more commonly known as “engineered timber” is a modern method of construction that is economical with the use of natural timber resources.

The main parts & rails of the door are usually constructed using solid strips/blocks of timber (some internals may contain a laminated board and/or particleboard), which are then glued and then clamped together.

They are then faced with a veneer and edged with a solid timber “lipping”. The benefits of using engineered construction doors over more traditional methods are that it is far more unlikely to twist or split (we do not get problems with panels splitting) and possibly the most important reason is that it is much more eco-friendly!
