These Oak Ready to Glaze Pattern 10 are fully engineered to provide an attractive and practical alternative to solid timber doors. The benefits of having engineered doors are sturdy construction and a refined and consistent finish. Quality joints and modern adhesive technology ensure strength and longevity.
This door is supplied ready to glaze with various glass options, allowing you to customise the door to your tastes.
Supplied Unfinished, these doors are able to take a stain or paint finish. Our recommendation for a natural, clear finish would be to use a Treatex Hardwax Oil, which is available from the "Stains, Paints and Finishes" section of our website.
On this product, there is also an option for the door to be supplied pre-finished by our french polisher. If you select this option, your door will be supplied pre-finished to a professional standard.
Your door will be pre-sanded before being sealed with a shellac sanding sealer. When dry, the door is then "de-nibbed" with a 400 grit sand paper and hand polished with two coats of Finpol French Polish, specially formulated for doors and internal joinery.
This achieves a great looking semi-matt finish which is resistant to knocks and finger marks and is smooth to the touch.
Selecting this option will add approximately a week on to any estimated lead time.
Please be aware that any glass supplied may be temporarily glazed (loose pinned) into the door or even supplied separate. This is done to make the door easier to decorate (allows you to paint/stain behind rebates) & handle whilst hanging.
These doors are constructed with solid oak 12mm lipping along the long edges and 6mm lipping on the top and bottom of the doors which means they look just like solid oak doors but are far more eco friendly.
These doors are manufactured using LVL (Laminated Veneered Lumber). LVL or more commonly known as “engineered timber” is a modern method of construction that is economical with the use of natural timber resources. The main parts & rails of the door are usually constructed using solid strips/blocks of timber (some internals may contain a laminated board and/or particleboard), which are then glued and then clamped together. They are then faced with a veneer and edged with a solid timber “lipping”. The benefits of using engineered construction doors over more traditional methods are; The door has a much more uniform look (no mismatched colours/panels, everything matches), It is far more unlikely to twist, split (we do not get problems with panels splitting) and possibly the most important reason is that it is much more Eco friendly!
