About this door

The Ledged & braced solid oak internal doors are manufactured by experienced craftsmen incorporating many years of working with oak. Made from solid American white oak timber and supplied as standard with the three Horizontal Braces as shown in the main picture. The diagonal braces are available as an optional extra.

We have standard oak door sizes, or you can choose a custom made size, done to your specific requirements. Suitable for barn conversions, old & new properties the oak used for this range of ledged & braced doors will include some character such as knots, rough patches and small splits. The doors are supplied assembled but not sanded.

Our Oak doors are supplied Natural/Unfinished allowing you to stain, wax or oil to your own liking. Each door is made from beginning to the end by the same craftsmen so that every step of the solid oak doors production meets our stringent quality checks. We make our oak internal doors with solid oak, no veneer or MDF will be used in the production of these oak doors.

Custom Sizes

On this door, there is an option to have the door made to a custom size. The maximum dimensions we can offer would be 914mm (36") x 2133mm (84"). Lead times for a custom sized product are approx 2 weeks. There is an additional charge for this service (see size dropdown box for details).

Things we thought you may need to know!

These doors are made from character grade oak. This means the doors may come with knots or shakes in the timber. Please advise if you require these filled before dispatch.

Supplied unfinished, these doors are able to take a stain or paint finish. Our recommendation for a natural, clear finish would be to use a Treatex Hardwax Oil, which is available from the "Stains, Paints and Finishes" section of our website.

On this product, there is also an option for the door to be supplied pre-finished by our french polisher. If you select this option, your door will be supplied pre-finished to a professional standard.

Your door will be pre-sanded with 180 grit sandpaper before being sprayed with a base coat of A/C lacquer. When dry, the door is then "de-nibbed" by hand and sprayed with further top coats of A/C lacquer, specially formulated for doors and internal joinery.

This achieves a great looking semi-matt finish which is resistant to knocks and finger marks and is smooth to the touch.

Selecting this option will add approximately a week to any estimated lead time.

The correct storage, fitting, and finishing of your new doors are very important factors in getting the best out of your purchase.

Please always avoid the use of water-based finishing products as this may cause the door to bow, warp or delaminate. Using these types of products will invalidate your guarantee.

Before finishing your door, we would always recommend reading our Door Care information which can be viewed by clicking here, along with any additional manufacturer's documentation supplied with the door itself.
