About this door

The Hardwood Malton Obscure Glazed External Hardwood Doorset is an ideal choice for more traditional properties and with a double glazed obscure glass will create a unique and light welcoming entrance to grace any home.

In a popular Victorian style, this door features two raised and fielded panels in the lower part of the door which add greater visual interest. Two obscure (sandblasted) double glazed rectangular apertures towards the top of the door will allow light to flood into the property whilst maintaining privacy.

Made from Engineered Hardwood for added strength and stability, the door is constructed with dowelled joints.

Each door set comes complete with a door, matching frame, 3 x security hinges, door furniture and a threshold and rain deflector. The door and frame are fully assembled, all you need to do is secure the frame in your opening and screw the handles on!

Our pre-hung doorsets are a hassle-free way to install an external door. Saving hours of joinery time, these products have factory manufactured cut-outs for locks, handles, hinges and letter plates.

As the doorset is manufactured to meet your preferences, as we process your order you'll be able to choose whether your door is hinged on the left or right-hand side and whether or not it opens inwards or outwards.

For help in choosing your ideal door set or for more information, please use the "Choosing Your Doorset" tab.

Things we thought you may need to know!

Please Note: These doorsets will create a value of insulation, but are not supplied, nor rated as "Part L" compliant. Where possible an indicative U-Value is supplied as a guide only.

As these doorsets are manufactured to your requirements, lead times for manufacture can vary.

Choosing your doorset

There are a number of different options to configure your door set which can be selected from the drop down boxes above.

Once you've chosen the rest of the options and placed your order, we'll also email you a form asking for confirmation of your choices and to also select whether your door is hinged on the left or right hand side.

3 - Door Furniture Finish

Every doorset is supplied complete with all door furniture and hardware required. This is available in a choice of either Chrome or Brass, please note: The security hinges on every door set are supplied in a zinc coated (chrome effect).

Please select your chosen finish from the "Door Furniture Finish" drop down box.

4 - Letter Plate Required?

It's possible to fit a letter plate to your pre-hung doorset. This would be selected to match the finish of your choice of door furniture.

If you would like a Letter Plate, please select from the "Letter Plate Required?" dropdown box.

Security Hinges

Your doorset will be hung in the frame using 4" Lift Off Security Hinges.

Offering easy and quick door removal, these hinges will give you the flexibility in lifting off the door for maintenance or easier access through a door opening.

An integral security bolt offers security from attempted unauthorised entry via cutting or removing hinge pins. The "dog" bolt reinforces the door and prevents the door being lifted or moved off the hinges when the door is closed.

Manufactured in the United Kingdom from heavy gauge steel, these hinges are designed for long-life performance under arduous conditions.

These hinges have been endurance and corrosion tested and accredited by Bodycote Warrington APT Laboratories and Warrington Fire Research Laboratories.

This CE marked product adheres to:

EN1935:2002 Testing, mechanical and endurance performance requirements for single axis Hinges.

EN1634-1:2000 Fire testing for doors and doorset assemblies, including hardware.

3 Way Multi-Point Vectis Locking System

This doorset is supplied complete with a professionally fitted Vectis Multipoint lock, combining the security of a traditional 5 lever mortice lock with the added benefits of a hook bolt system.

Having removed the need for a Euro Cylinder, this lock is unique in it's field and features an anti-bump security lock barrel.

These locking systems are designed to meet the requirements of PAS 23 and PAS 24 and is licensed by Secured by Design.

Our door sets are normally supplied without the handles attached for easier transportation. The locking system will be pre-fitted and it is therefore just a case of attaching the handles once your doorset is in place.

Macclex 15/2 Inward Cill & Conceal Fix Expelex rain deflector

The doorset will be supplied with a Conceal Fix Expelex rain deflector for double protection against rainwater and draughts. To avoid any sharp edges the guard is supplied with end caps which can be fitted once it has been cut to length.

After finishing the set, this should be fitted in order to protect your doorset from the elements.

On inward opening variants, this features a Macclex 15/2 Inward Cill to the rear and a rubber strip seal on the front and back. This will not be the case with outward opening variants as they only have one strip on the front. This product will help to save energy and therefore save money on your bills. A rear thermal barrier aids in the prevention of condensation. Suitable for moderate exposed locations.

This threshold has curved upstands to facilitate easy access for wheelchairs and prams. Along with being part M and BS8300 Equality act compliant.

Optional letter plate

Should you wish to have a letter plate fitted in the door, this can be done in the bottom or mid-rail depending on the style of door you are choosing.

If you aren't sure where a letter plate could be fitted on the style of door that you are interested in, please feel free to give us a call for more information.

If selected, this will be fitted and match the choice of hardware finish.

These doorsets are supplied ready to finish to your own tastes, they are able to be stained or painted. We recommend the use of Oil-based finishes.

The correct storage, fitting and finishing of your new door/s are very important factors in getting the best out of your purchase.

We would always recommend reading our Door Care information which can be viewed by Clicking Here, along with any additional manufacturers documentation supplied with the door itself.

These doors are manufactured using laminated veneered lumber (LVL). LVL or more commonly known as “engineered timber” is a modern method of construction that is economical with the use of natural timber resources.

The main parts & rails of the door are usually constructed using solid strips/blocks of timber (some internals may contain a laminated board and/or particleboard), which are then glued and then clamped together.

They are then faced with a veneer and edged with a solid timber “lipping”. The benefits of using engineered construction doors over more traditional methods are that it is far more unlikely to twist or split (we do not get problems with panels splitting) and possibly the most important reason is that it is much more eco-friendly!
