About this door lining

The Internal Solid Oak Door Lining is manufactured using solid, unfinished French Oak, from the Southern Normandy, Loire Valley and Bourgogne areas of France. The frames are made using a select rustic oak which is ideal for period properties but reduces the size and number of knots in the lining to create a more subtle look.

Complimenting internal white oak doors, these frames can be used to complete a consistent and attractive look throughout your home.

With plant on door stops (stop laths), these linings are flexible enough to be used with different depths of the door.

These frames can be cut down on-site if necessary for your usage.

These linings are manufactured from a high grade of solid oak rather than cheaper engineered wood. We start with lengths of oak at around 1.0 – 1.5 metres long and finger joint these together to get the correct overall length needed.  Each lining will come packaged with complete installation instructions.

Sizing Options

Please note - sizes given are minimum approximate sizes and are subject to standard tolerances

These linings are available in the following options:

  • 22mm x 108mm lining including 14mm x 32mm door stops
  • 22mm x 132mm lining including 14mm x 32mm door stops
  • 22mm x 150mm lining including 14mm x 32mm door stops

Please Note: If you have a wall thickness not listed here, it may be that your size can be accommodated, please contact us for details.

Door Sizes:

This frame is supplied untrenched with timbers sufficient to fabricate a lining to suit a door size of up to 915mm x 2100mm.

If a lining is "untrenched", then the legs (uprights) can be fit to whatever size you require (obviously within the constraints of the size of the timber.

This is particularly handy if your doors are not a standard size.

Door Lining Profile:

Please see the image gallery for the diagram.

Supplied Unfinished, these frames are able to take a stain or paint finish. Our recommendation for a natural, clear finish would be to use a Treatex Hardwax Oil, which is available from the "Stains, Paints and Finishes" section of our website.

On this product, there is also an option for the frame to be supplied pre-finished by our french polisher. If you select this option, your frame will be supplied pre-finished to a professional standard.

Your frame will be pre-sanded before being sealed with a shellac sanding sealer. When dry, the frame is then "de-nibbed" with a 400 grit sandpaper and hand-polished with two coats of Finpol French-Polish, specially formulated for doors and internal joinery.

This achieves a great looking semi-matt finish which is resistant to knocks and finger marks and is smooth to the touch.

Selecting this option will add approximately a week on to any estimated lead time.
