About this door

The Oak Hillingdon Glazed External Part L Door will make your entranceway inviting, cosy and traditional in design. Constructed with energy efficiency in mind, this door achieves a U-Value of 1.5W/2K.

These doors are supplied pre-glazed with toughened safety feature glass. This Glass option is an etched diamond design that allows the maximum amount of light to flow through your home while still giving you some privacy and with the Part L Compliance also keeps more heat in your home.

No matter where you purchase your external oak doors from it is an unfortunate fact that these doors are not suitable for exposure to direct rain and hot sunlight. This means that these glazed external doors must be sheltered by either a porch or canopy to create a stylish and protective entranceway into your home. These doors are eminently suitable for exterior use, but with this pre-condition to validate any guarantee.

Supplied unfinished, these doors are able to take a stain or paint finish. A range of products would be suitable, including Impranol, which is available from the "Stains, Paints and Finishes" section of our website.

The correct storage, fitting and finishing of your new doors are very important factors in getting the best out of your purchase.

Please always avoid the use of water-based finishing products as this may cause the door to bow, warp or delaminate. Using these types of products will invalidate your guarantee.

These doors are manufactured using laminated veneered lumber (LVL). LVL or more commonly known as “engineered timber” is a modern method of construction that is economical with the use of natural timber resources.

The main parts & rails of the door are usually constructed using solid strips/blocks of timber (some internals may contain a laminated board and/or particleboard), which are then glued and then clamped together.

They are then faced with a veneer and edged with a solid timber “lipping”. The benefits of using engineered construction doors over more traditional methods are that it is far more unlikely to twist or split (we do not get problems with panels splitting) and possibly the most important reason is that it is much more eco-friendly!
