What do the regulations say?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 marked a significant change, requiring schools, educational facilities and other non-domestic establishments to appoint a Responsible Person (RP) for fire safety, including the installation and maintenance of fire doors. Schools are required to undertake risk assessments to identify the general fire precautions needed to safeguard the safety of occupants in case of fire, including their safe means of escape.
